There Will Never Be A New Black, But If There Was it Would Be Pink.

You know that scene in Confessions of a Shopaholic when Rebecca Bloomwood is headed to her interview, but gets derailed by that green scarf? The creepy mannequin, originally wearing the scarf, comes to life drapes it around Rebecca’s neck and convinces her that she “…Will wear it with everything. It will become a part of [her].” While it is one of my favorite movies of all time, I know I cannot be the only one who has used this mannequin’s “logic” when debating whether or not that handbag/dress/pair of shoes is worth eating only ramen for the rest of the month. The only problem with this? We all know that you will really only “wear it with everything” for about two weeks. Then it is back to the age-old mantra of “I have nothing to wear!”

So why is it that we convince ourselves that an item is so imperative to our wardrobe; but then after only a few wears we start to let that item drift toward the back of our closets? My theory; we just run out of creative ways to wear it. Let’s face it, no one wants to be that girl who walks around in the same outfit so often that everyone thinks she has one of those closets like our favorite cartoon characters, in which the closets are filled with completely identical outfits.

So how do we fix this problem without running out to Nordstorm every time they have a sale? We get creative and find ways to combine things we already own to create totally new looks. Last week I wrote a similar post about how to style a little black dress like a thousand different ways (okay more like three different ways), this week I thought I would give a LPD (little pink dress) a try. While you may think I could only wear it a few times before it loses its charm, you are so wrong!
