Shh...Speakeasy
All That Jazz
Lots of times when people think of vacation they might imagine their longest walk of the day being from their hotel room to the pool. While that sounds uber relaxing, sometimes you just have to leave your hotel and walk around aimlessly. Nowhere to be, not a care in the world, just strolling the city until you come across a quaint sidewalk cafe and pop in for some bubbles.
For the evening, we had gotten all dressed up to go out for a very Chicago night in
a modern day speakeasy. Once we found the club, we walked up to the two black
doors guarded by a security camera and knocked. We waited patiently for a
little slot to open and someone to ask for a password or secret knock but nothing
came. After about five more minutes of knocking and looking for an alternate
entrance, a kind by-passer informed us that, it wasn't that we simply weren't
being allowed entrance, but that the club was closed.
Not to be
defeated, we found a fun dueling piano bar to hangout in. It was quite a joint
with a lively crowd and incredibly talented acts.
Being a girl that is slightly obsessed with the Roaring 20's, I was a little disappointed that I have still yet to be able to experience the thrill of a speakeasy. No worries, just another excuse to return to the city.
Vivre dans le luxe,
Jordin
