Books to Read if: You're Obsessed with The Royals

 Nine Books for Royal Enthusiasts

It's no surprise that the British monarchy has been everywhere over the last two to three years with the royal wedding, Megxit, THE Oprah interview, The Crown, Archetypes, and more. It's obvious that with the drama, the fashion, the love story, and the secrecy, our interest in this monarchy is not going away anytime soon. So if you're like me and find yourself constantly contemplating and daydreaming of the sparkling yet treacherous life of royalty, here are some books to fuel your obsession.

If you're a fan of the Fab Four that almost was, aka Kate and Will + Harry and Meghan, you can start here. These books are a thinly veiled version of their stories. There's a snippy older prince, a castoff princess struggling with mental health, a party hard spare brother, an America and a good old fashioned commoner-meets-prince-charming love story.

Unless you have had your head buried in a hole, you know about this next book. You're likely to have heard excerpts on talk shows, deep dive analyses on podcasts and TikTok. Maybe you've read spree of the many a reviews in publications from The New Yorker to the New York Post. Whether you're team Kate/William or team Meghan/Harry, you should put Spare on your list so you can be in the know the next time it comes up at wine night.

Perhaps you also recognize the name Kitty Kelly. Kelly is known for her incredibly in-depth investigative biographies of high profile celebrities. She's a real no nonsense, no fluff, no revisionist history kind of writer.

On that same note, Tina Brown is also known for her explosive tell-alls and has given us not one, but TWO books centered around the world's most famous family. Whether you're still fascinated by Princess Diana (and I think most of us are) or prefer to focus on the modern "fairytale," her books will have you up all night swearing you're going to read just one more page.

Perhaps you're looking for something that's a bit more removed from the real life royals. In that case, how about this series that takes place in an alternate version of America. One in which George Washington became the first American king instead of president. What's even better is that these books focus not on a price or a king, but on the young QUEEN of America. Another major selling point: this is a series with three of the four books already out, so it's completely binge-able.

Happy reading!
